The group has been awarded the 2020 Princess of Asturias Award for the International Cooperation
The NSR group has been collaborating since 2017 with La Caixa in the Gavi Alliance childhood vaccination program, which this year received the Princess of Asturias Award for International Cooperation. Gavi is an International organization based in Geneva that was promoted by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and in which various business groups and International institutions also collaborate.
The program is estimated to have inmunized more tan 760 million children worldwide and this year has allocated more tan $ 200 million to combat the Covid19 pandemic, especially in developing countries in Africa and Asia. The Gavi Alliance´s inmediate goal is to vaccinate some 1.1 billion children by 2025, which would prevent around 22 million deaths. Likewise, Gavi actively participates in the investigation of the first Ebola vaccine.
